Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 141 - The Prodigy Child

Hearing that excited yet warm tone of voice and the way it called my name, I knew pretty well whose voice it was. I looked around to find the smiling figure of my sister standing in front of me, with her hazel eyes locked on me.

She was looking as amiable as ever, with long brown hairs reflecting off the sunlight falling on them, almost giving it a fiery glare. A round pearl earring on her left ear and necklace to compliment that.

"Nee-chan… definitely didn\'t see you coming." I said in a relaxed tone, which made my friends all more curious as they heard the word \'Nee-chan\'.

"Nee-chan?" Kana said with a confused smile while looking at, as Saki joined in too, "He has a sister?"

"She is so pretty, unlike..." Tsūmen said with a smug and ouch! He doesn\'t have to roast me like that, even though I know this fact.

Nee-chan\'s gazes turned towards me as she asked, "Are they your friends?"

"Yeah, apparently." I replied with a shrug. She turned towards them, smiled politely saying nothing, as only Tsūmen returned that smile since the others were too busy to comprehend the fact that I had a sister.

"Wow… you definitely made a lot of friends over the course of the year…" She said in an excited voice as last year when she visited me, I was a loner.

"Oh… not really…" I said, because honestly, this resulted from the ordeal I was in.

A small frown formed on her face as tilted her head and said, "Looks like that to me, I don\'t know…"

I heard a very upbeat voice of Tsūmen greeting my sister, "Sumiko-nee, how are you?"

"Oh… Tsūmen-san, I\'m fine… how are you? Oh… you took part in archery, right?" Glancing over to Tsūmen, who was smiling while waving at her, she gave him a small nod.

"Yeah… and I\'m doing kinda good too…" He replied, and looking at me, continued, "Bruh tell your brother to take part in events…"

Nee-chan just rolled her eyes at me and started her rant, "I have told him many times but this idiot won\'t do it…"

"Ooof…"

"Idiot? More like a lazy bum!" Tsūmen chuckled.

Nee-chan slapped me on the shoulder and laughed, "Oh you won\'t believe how stubborn he becomes…"

Tsūmen chuckled while looking at me with a mischievous eyes, "Oh I know what you\'re talking about…"

"You do understand I\'m standing here, right?" I sighed, and he replied with an instant, "Yes!"

The conversation between them continued as they talked about miscellaneous stuff, before Tsūmen asked, "Well… are you on holiday or something?"

She nodded as she answered, "Ahh… my semester just ended… so we have this week-long holiday now…"

Tsūmen sighed, "Lucky… University must be so cool."

"Absolutely not!" Nee-chan outright disagreed with him, nodding her head from left to right. Well, as for us highschool students, college life sure seems like a dream, but they have their own problems too.

She said with a regretful smile, "Whenever I visit here, I wish I could just go back to highschool again."

Glancing towards me, she walked closer and said, "Oh by the way, I\'ll go now… I have something to do." She walked off slowly, while waving at me, "I\'ll be back in a few, Sai!"

"Hai! Hai!" I just gave her a nod. She is the polar opposite of me. Jeez!

Tsūmen smiled towards me, as we walked towards Gaisen and the others who were busy with their own things. As they noticed us approaching, Kana pointed at Tsūmen and said, "They seemed familiar with each other."

"Yeah they are." I gave a slight nod of affirmation.

"Saishi… your sister is so pretty!" Saki exclaimed. I could see the admiration in her eyes.

"Ah… I have heard this so many times…" I replied, as Gaisen continued, "She is in university?"

"Ye… second year in Tokyo University." I answered fluently as these were a thread of questions that have always been asked to me. Everyone around us knew that my sister was a prodigy child but the son, me was not so special.

"Tokyo University? Damn!" Gaisen said in an impressed tone.

"What subject is she studying?" Reina asked me, and I replied with a question since her subject was rather rare, "Media… you know journalism?"

"Damn…" Reina was also impressed now.

"Yeah… she is kind of a perfect child…" I said with a sheepish smile and sighed. I could see everyone was quite impressed that I had such a successful sister. In the corner of my eyes, I caught a glimpse of Kizhashi staring at me.

"She seems like a likeable person, not gonna lie…" Kana said, and I replied lightly with, "Yeah, I know… she is the polar opposite of me."

Kana seemed to be curious as she looked at Tsūmen intensely and asked, "Ah… Tsūmen, how do you know her so well?"

Tsūmen was talking with Gaisen so when he heard her question, he turned towards her, and replied, "Well, she comes by sometimes to visit him, so…"

"Comes by? She doesn\'t live with him?" Reina asked, looking at me, but Gaisen answered while glancing at me, "He lives alone.".

"Wait… you live alone!? How did I not know it all this time!?" Kana yelped in surprise as it was rather rare for high school students to live all by themselves.

"Because I didn\'t tell you." I replied casually and Gaisen chuckled.

"So she lives in the university dorms?" She asked. I nodded, "Yeah… she is pretty self sufficient."

"Damn… she is so cool." Reina muttered under her breath.

"Ye…" As I was about to say something, Kizhashi interrupted me suddenly, "Guys, when is the Tennis event, again?"

Kana and Gaisen started discussing the events, and their timings as Gaisen had a list of them on his mobile. Kizhashi, while listening to them, glanced slightly at me, and quickly averted her eyes as mine met her.

She must have quite a short attention span if she didn\'t listen carefully to at least the timing of her own event, which was tennis. What an idiot!
